A strong brand identity: so much more than just a beautiful logo design

When thinking about a brand, the first thing that often comes to mind is a logo or a visual style. Understandably so, but a brand identity is much more than that! Especially when you want to use it effectively for marketing and promoting your business, project, or product.

When we talk about brand identity, we think of the brand in the broadest sense of the word: the overall appearance and tone of voice. A strong brand can convey a specific feeling to everyone who comes into contact with it, leaving a lasting impression.

Therefore, it is important to think carefully about what you want to convey and to whom. Developing effective branding is a very personal process that requires time and depth.

Designing a good logo

A logo is often the first thing the public sees and therefore a crucial element of your brand identity. Designing a good logo is a complex task. It must not only represent and reflect your brand for (hopefully) a long period of time, but it also needs to be flexible in use. This means it must work effectively in various formats and contexts, from a small app icon to a large billboard.

We’re all familiar with examples of timeless and classic logos that we’ll never forget and are extremely recognizable. Often, these are the simplest logo designs, and that's no coincidence. Finding such simplicity is not easy and can be pretty challenging.

Essential Efficiency in Concept Development

In developing concepts, we find it important not to linger too long in the initial phase. Just as we create prototypes for software to quickly test what works (and what doesn't), this approach is also effective for brand development.

We usually start with a brand design that looks decent, is usable, and is already far in the expected direction: ideal for the startup phase. By collecting feedback, we can then develop the brand much more targeted and effectively.

Our Role in Brand Identities

We develop brand identities not only for our in-house projects but also on commission, usually as part of website development or rebranding projects. In any case, we find it important to take the time to listen well, to understand and comprehend the story behind the brand. Whether we’re developing a completely new brand or renewing an existing one.

As said, we go beyond designing a beautiful logo; we develop the full picture with the right tone of voice, so every brand expression aligns well with the identity and conveys the right feeling.
